Perhaps even more so this year, summer feels like a reset. The longer, sunnier days give us more opportunities to be out in nature and explore our communities. London’s spring rains have finally abated and stepping out into the sun this weekend just felt healing. While the official start of summer is still to come, I think we’ve all gladly shifted our mindset, welcoming slower routines and any opportunity to relax with family and friends.
In the spirit of ease, this week’s three products are all about simplifying your days so you can make the most of the season. They’ll help you get ready more quickly and make mealtime more simple, no matter where you set your table or who’s around it.
Wishing you warmth, good fun and no sunburns.
1. EltaMD UV Clear Broad-Spectrum SPF 46 ($37)
Whenever I’m asked about facial sunscreen, this dermatologists’ favorite from EltaMD is the one I always recommend, especially for those with oily or acne-prone skin. It has a light, oil-free, almost whipped texture with added niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and lactic acid to help with discoloration without clogging pores. I go for the tinted version (center product in the image above), which won’t replace your foundation, but will help even out your complexion a bit. And if you saw the recent headlines about the sunscreen/benzene scandal, this is one that passed the test.
2. Marine Layer Boyfriend V-Neck in White ($39 or 3 for $100)
When it’s hot out, getting dressed should be easy and as comfortable as possible. If you’re looking for a white t-shirt that is breathable, has a loose fit and looks perfect with a pair of denim cutoffs, this Marine Layer tee is the one. Made from a sustainable, eco-friendly blend of Supima Cotton and 50% TENCEL™ Modal (produced from beech wood pulp), these shirts arrive feeling like they’ve been washed 100 times already. For me, this quarantine favorite has become a wardrobe staple. There are other colors as well and you can find the men’s version here.
3. MUJI Acacia Dinnerware ($9.90 to $59.90)
Living in Tokyo, MUJI quickly became one of my favorite shops. Founded in 1980, their products are all thoughtfully designed to be just as beautiful as they are functional, without being expensive. MUJI’s hand-carved Acacia Dinnerware is light but durable and each piece is unique. Outdoor dining is something we’ve all grown to appreciate more, and these wooden dishes can easily be transported to the patio or park in a bag or the most slippery of fingers without worry of breaking. They also make wonderful catchalls throughout your home for a warm, earthy touch.

Something to think about …
Expanding your palate expands your mind. If you’re missing travel right now, one of the best ways to experience other cultures is through cooking. Lately, Mastering Spice by Lior Lev Sercarz with Genevieve Ko is the cookbook I can’t put down.
