What makes someone’s personal style effortless? Is it what they wear or how? Is it what’s in their home or how it feels? I would describe someone’s style as effortless when I see their outfit or space and immediately think “that’s so them.” Effortless style isn’t overwrought or forced. It projects an air of comfort as much as confidence. The vibe is easygoing, but the result is refined.
It can take a while to find your own personal style that feels effortless. But selecting the right items can help you bring any look together quickly, whether it’s on you or your surroundings. And effortless style isn’t restricted to the world of luxury goods. This week’s three finds make a statement but not a fuss.
May all your efforts this week be rewarding.
1. Jordan Samuel Skin The Performance Eye Gel (£34)
When your eyes look fresh, your whole face looks brighter. And the right eye product can counteract those tell-tale signs of exhaustion or overconsumption. This one from former professional dancer and current skin therapist Jordan Samuel Pacitti is a hydrating, lightweight gel that absorbs beautifully to wake up the eye area. The blend of ingredients includes peptides, glycerin and green tea to de-puff and smooth. It also contains mica, which imparts a subtle shimmer to further camouflage dark circles. Wear it on its own or layer it under makeup for an instant complexion pick-me-up.
2. Ghost London Palm Dress (£129)
Few garments epitomize effortless elegance like a satin slip dress. Thrown on with heels, you have a cocktail look. Paired with flat sandals, you have a refined daytime ensemble. This version from Ghost London features a bias cut to gently skim over the curves of the body without feeling clingy and a midi length to show off your shoes. But my favorite element of this dress is the wide straps, ideal for those of us who feel most comfortable in a bra. All of Ghost’s designs are feminine, chic and easy to care for, too, which means you can go back to them again and again.
3. Garden Trading Fulbrook Rectangular Mirror (£225)
Mirrors are magic workers, making a space feel larger and brighter instantly. The clean lines of this windowpane-style mirror from Garden Trading, which was founded in 1994 by Jon Holloway, sits comfortably between country and industrial, allowing it to fit in with most decor. Framed in black, powder-coated stainless steel, it’s available in two sizes and can also be paired up for a bigger impact. I have mine hanging above our console table and love how it bounces light around the entire room, while also serving as a spot for “final checks” before heading out the door.
Something to think about …
