Three finds for those landlocked days when the seaside is calling to you.
We’ve entered the cabin fever stage of winter. I’m sick and tired of heavy jackets (and expensive heating bills) and am ready for sandals and sunshine. If I close my eyes and think about places like Hvar, one of my favorite vacations I’ve ever taken, I can almost smell the sea mist and feel the breeze on my face.
If you, like me, are still months away from a seaside getaway, this week’s three buys will help transport you to the coast and bring back memories of warmer days. Each of these English brands has roots in the sea which are sure to make you feel like you’re on holiday.

1. Haeckels Bladderwrack + Pumpkin Moisturising Lotion (£44)
My skin has been so dry and itchy lately, I needed something rich for those days I wasn’t applying my usual treatment lotion. Haeckels is a skin and body care brand that utilizes seaweed (bladderwrack) harvested in Margate in all of its products. This hydrating, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial ingredient is full of vitamins and amino acids. This lotion also contains nourishing grape, pumpkin and tomato seed oils, sea buckthorn oil and botanicals. It has a fresh scent with notes of citrus, rosemary, cedarwood and musk, and my skin drinks it up.
2. Seasalt Tressa Cable Knit Jumper (£89.95)
For those cool sea breezes, nothing beats a cozy cable knit sweater like this one from Seasalt, which was founded in Penzance, Cornwall, in 1981. What started as a clothier for artists, fishermen and farmers evolved into an original brand offering everything from raincoats to jewelry for men and women. This sweater is made from a soft merino wool blend with blousy raglan sleeves for the perfect blend of masculine and feminine. It makes a great layering piece throughout the year, whether you’re enjoying a wintertime beach stroll or relaxing next to a summer evening bonfire.
3. Skandinavisk HAV Scented Candle (£37)
Bring the sea indoors with notes of salt spray, sea kelp, hawthorn and beach rose. I first encountered Skandinavisk’s products during a trip to Copenhagen and was immediately drawn to their minimal design and rich, earthy fragrances. The brand was founded by Englishman Shaun Russell in 2012 and offers a range of home fragrances and body care products. This candle is 200 grams, with a burn time of up to 50 hours. It’s made with a vegan and cruelty-free blend of sustainably farmed, non-GMO Swedish rapeseed wax, essential oils and synthetic fragrances.
