I hesitate to apply the term “life-changing” to any beauty, fashion or home buy, but there are definitely some things I know I’ll never be able to top. The three products in this week’s roundup have no substitutes in my book and my daily routines wouldn’t be complete without them.
1. Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 ($34 and up)
This iconic product is not just an expensive toner. It’s an exfoliating treatment and I can say without a doubt it is the product that has improved my skin the most. Like all Biologique Recherche products (seen here and here), it’s all natural with a signature smell thanks to ingredients like cider vinegar, sulfur and thyme. Basically, it’s stinky. But if you can get past that, the blend of AHAs, BHAs and PHAs will improve the tone and texture of your skin dramatically. I recommend seeing an esthetician familiar with the brand to find the specific formula (there are five) and best usage for you.
2. Uniqlo AIRism Body Silhouette Shaper Half Shorts (£12.90)
There are lots and lots and lots of shapewear brands out there. And most of them have come up with a short of some kind to tackle the discomfort that can come with wearing dresses. From thigh rubbing to sweat and VPLs, a pair of shorts makes donning your favorite frock so much more comfortable and these shorts from Uniqlo are still the best I’ve ever found. Made from an ultra-light, breathable fabric, they gently smooth without suffocating and won’t roll up or down. Whenever you see me in a dress, there’s usually a pair of these shorts underneath.
3. Resorè Towels (£35 and up)
Returning to a tiny washer-dryer after our move to the UK had me rethinking how often I planned to wash our household linens. When I first saw these towels, I was skeptical, but I’ve had them almost a year now and they remain a bathroom staple. Launched in 2020 by Nathan Jackson, Evah Jackson, and Sarah DeBoer, Resorè towels are made from a blend of Silverbac, Lyocell, bamboo and long staple cotton, which makes them soft and antibacterial so you can wash them less often. I still clean them weekly, but they don’t stink and I can feel good using them to wipe my face.
