Tomorrow marks one year since I sent out the first edition of MIDDI. As a former intern at DailyCandy (RIP) and a day-one subscriber to GOOP, I’ve had the idea for this newsletter in the back of my head for a long time. I’ve always loved reading product recommendations from different people, but I struggled to find a regular curation that hit the price point I was most comfortable with at this stage in my life. Writing each weekly edition is truly a labor of love for me and I’ve so appreciated all of your feedback. I’ll never keep any great find to myself and can’t wait to share more beauty, fashion and home buys with you.
This week, I’m featuring some of my picks from this year’s RHS Chelsea Flower Show and one summer beauty staple you need in your kit. Keep scrolling for the top five MIDDI posts of all time and a sneak peek at what’s coming next.
Thank you for your support!
1. Colorescience Total Eye® 3-in-1 Renewal Therapy SPF 35 (£49.50)
I’ve been a member of Team Eye Cream since I was 18. But when it’s warm out, the thought of wearing a thick eye cream topped with makeup doesn’t appeal to me. Plus, I love any product that pulls double duty. This tinted eye cream from Colorescience provides all of the brightening and smoothing benefits of your eye cream, plus the color correction of a concealer and the bonus of reef-safe mineral SPF protection. There are four easily blendable shades to choose from that make a nice base for eyeshadow. If you’re a fan of the no-makeup look, you should definitely try it.
2. Hiho Silver Sterling Silver Snaffle Pendant on Fine Trace Chain (£45)
One of the first booths I stepped into at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show was Hiho Silver, which launched in 1994. My friend and I were quickly drawn in by their sparkling sterling silver jewelry selection. Once we started looking closer, we knew we had to leave with some. All of Hiho’s pieces, which are designed and created by Andrew Ransford and Emma Warren, are inspired by English country life in Somerset. I’ve never ridden a horse in my life, but I love the delicate pieces in this line, which showcase classic equestrian symbols in such a clever, never-cheesy way.
3. Heyland & Whittle Candles (£12.50 and up)
One thing I always enjoy picking up at the flower show is candles and home fragrances. Surrey soap and herbal merchants Heyland & Whittle, founded in 2003, had a beautiful shop set up where I quickly collected two new candles with some of my favorite notes: sandalwood, oud and geranium (grab them here and here). Their soy wax candles are all hand-poured and come packaged in gorgeous glass vessels you’ll easily be able to reuse, or convenient tins with lids you can travel with. Candles are always great to have on hand for an impromptu host/hostess gift (or blackout).
