This week we celebrate one year since Scoop came into our lives and turned them upside down in the best way possible. While it hasn’t always been easy, this little guy has taught us so much in the past year about unconditional love. Everything we’ve ever been told about the magic of having a dog has proven true and now we can’t imagine our home without him.
In honor of Scoop’s gotcha day, I’m sharing three more dog essentials we’ve come to love and rely on during our first year as pupper parents. All three have made life with a playful, silly city dog much easier. Best of all, Scoop loves them, too.
Give your pupper an extra treat, belly rub or walk today.
1. YETI Boomer Dog Bowls (£40 and up)
Once Scoop was fully grown, he needed a sturdier bowl for feeding time to prevent messes. I also wanted something that looked good sitting out all the time. I had no idea YETI, the Austin, Texas-based makers of water bottles and coolers, offered dog bowls. BPA-free and made from stainless steel, these bowls are suitable for water, kibble or wet food and can be thrown in the dishwasher. They aren’t easily moved or knocked over, thanks to their weight and non-slip bottoms. There are seven different colors to choose from.
2. Stutterheim Dog Raincoats (£50 and up)
Living in London, drizzle is a weekly occurrence. Scoop’s longer fur takes a while to dry off if he gets wet, so we wanted to keep at least some of him covered during rainy walks. Leave it to Swedish luxury outerwear company Stutterheim (founded by Alexander Stutterheim) to create the most sophisticated (and cute) little raincoat for puppers. We chose bright yellow to keep Scoop visible, and it really does help keep his core warm and protected. Now I’m wondering if I need to get a raincoat of my own to match his…
3. Lords & Labradors Dog Crate Covers (£119 and up)
A crate was crucial for us to keep Scoop safe and assist in house training. Back when he used to sleep through the night in his crate, we bought a cover to keep him warmer during the winter and create more of a den-like space for him. These beautiful covers from Lords & Labradors are machine washable and can be paired with a variety of cozy accessories to spoil your pup. As soon as I put it on, Scoop climbed right in and laid down for a nap. They also have an outlet store where you can find excellent deals on all of their crate bedding.
