After weeks of temperature flip-flopping, autumn has finally arrived. There’s a chill in the air and the contest has begun to see who can wait the longest to turn on the heat. It’s time to bring out the electric blankets, dust off the stew recipes and switch up our schedules to make the most of those precious hours of daylight as the days get shorter and shorter.
The three products in this week’s edition of MIDDI can help you switch up your routine, look and surroundings as we usher in autumn. They’re all incredibly useful and reasonably priced without compromising on design or formulation.
It’s time to fall into fall.
1. Caudalie Vinoclean Cleansing Almond Milk (£9 and up)
I prefer cleansing milks as the first step in my face-washing routine, and I’ve been using a very pricey one for a while now, fearing I’d never find a better option. Then I had a facial at Caudalie (previously featured here) and fell for this cleansing milk at first sniff. The sweet scent and velvety texture of this cleanser make it a joy to use, but what I love even more about it is how well it works as a first cleanse, rinsing away all of my makeup without any greasy residue. The key ingredients are jojoba and sweet almond oils as well as antioxidants. Follow it with this gel for happy, clean skin.
2. Shiraleah Arden Tote in Honey ($66)
As I’ve been preparing to move house later this week, I’ve been going through all of my things to decide what needs to go to our new home and what just needs to go. I found my Shiraleah Arden Tote in tan that I got a while back and went online to discover it was now available in a range of new colors. This honey shade is perfect for pairing with brown, camel, burgundy and other rich autumn shades. Shiraleah is a Chicago-based brand offering a range of bags plus apparel and other accessories. This vegan leather bag looks luxe and offers plenty of storage for the essentials.
3. Nordic Nest String Shelving Unit (£132)
Moving always reminds me of one thing: We all have too much crap. And crap needs somewhere to go. For apartment living, I’m all about adding shelves to get more storage and create vignettes. Normally, adjustable ones look too industrial for my liking, but this set from Sweden-based Scandi design shop Nordic Nest is available in 12 chic colors to compliment any decor, whether you want it to stand out or blend in. Move the shelves up or down to suit the height of your books or collectibles for a beautiful display or put these shelves in the kitchen or bathroom for spices, jars, etc.
Something to think about …
My current podcast obsession is Bad Women: The Ripper Retold, hosted by historian and author Hallie Rubenhold. What I love about this podcast is that the focus isn’t on finding out who Jack the Ripper was, but who the women he targeted really were.
