This winter felt particularly long to me. The cold weather dragged on and on and the fun of spring and summer seemed years away.
But this past week, it felt like we officially turned a corner. As the trees begin to bloom on my street, I know we’re finally thawing out, and now that April has begun, my favorite events of the warmer months now feel closer than ever. It’s time to make plans, shrug off the last of the winter layers and enjoy all this city has to offer.
The three buys in this week’s roundup are perfect for days spent out in the sunshine with friends or for bringing some of that springtime freshness indoors to enjoy during those inevitable April showers.

1. Supergoop! Bright-Eyed 100% Mineral Eye Cream SPF 40 (£38)
While I haven’t always been great at applying my sunscreen, the skin I know I most neglected was my eye area. Assuming sunglasses were enough meant I left a perfect ring of exposed skin around each peeper and now I have the sun damage to prove it. I have, however, always been good about applying eye cream. This one from Supergoop! gives me the de-puffing and brightening effects of a regular eye cream thanks to caffeine, probiotics, pomegranate, green tea and wild butterfly ginger flower along with zinc oxide for SPF 40 protection. Now all of my complexion is covered.
2. GANNI Bou Bag (£185 and up)
I’ve been on the hunt for a small bag with a top handle to take to Royal Ascot this year. I rarely use clutches because they make moving around and juggling refreshments more complicated. Plus, they typically don’t hold very much. This is also why I’ve shied away from the micro bag trend. But GANNI’s newest bag launch perfectly balances beauty and function. Available in four sizes and a range of colors and textures, there’s a Bou Bag for everyone and every outfit (my favorite color is green). After all, you can’t go wrong with a touch of Scandi style.
3. Heaven Scent Pink Pepper & Cedar Reed Diffuser (£14.95)
I love making my home smell fresh and cozy. What I don’t love is spending a small fortune on home fragrances that fade fast. During my recent day trip to Bath, my friend and I happened upon Hauslife, a housewares shop full of gorgeous items sourced from around the globe and all reasonably priced. I settled on this diffuser from UK brand Heaven Scent with notes of pink pepper, orange blossom, pear, patchouli, vanilla and cedar along with jasmine and coffee. Their scents are blended in an alcohol-free, non-flammable natural vegetable base and last up to three months.
