We all have those moments we want to feel a little bit royal. It could be a special occasion or one of those days when our view of the world feels more grey than rosy, so we seek out ways to elevate our normal. It could be a decadent meal, a pamper session or an accessory that’s more over-the-top than usual—whatever you choose, this is the adult version of playing dress up or make believe and I think it’s fabulous.
After a weekend spent in Windsor, I’m definitely looking to add some royal touches to my day to day. This week’s finds are all extra, no doubt, and sure to make you feel like a monarch whenever you reach for them.
Huzzah!
1. Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Eye Masks (£25)
Using eye patches isn’t always a pleasant experience. Sometimes they sting, but more often they slide down your face the entire time they’re on. Neither is true of these glistening eye masks from Wander Beauty, the line created by Divya Gugnani and Lindsay Ellingson. The three superstar ingredients in these masks are camu camu extract, hyaluronic acid and calendula, a combination that smoothes and brightens the eye area while also reducing puffiness. While the gold doesn’t add any additional skincare benefits, it does give this at-home treatment a royal touch.
2. Harris Reed x Missoma Ornate Locket Necklace (£245)
Harris Reed is an incredibly talented fashion designer I’ve been following for years. He makes the most incredible clothing he describes as “Romanticism Gone Nonbinary.” So when I saw Reed had a collaboration with London-based Missoma, I knew it would be amazing. There’s something so classic and romantic about a locket and this one, with a design inspired by the London Royal Opera House, is equally striking with 18ct gold, black enamel, pavé, white pearl and a rainbow moonstone at the center. The design felt very Tudor to me, which I’ll never tire of.
3. KLIMCHI Lavender Hobnail Jug (£99)
Crystalware always feels very regal and so does the color purple. This dazzling jug is produced by KLIMCHI, a collective of Bohemian artisans in Kamenicky Senov, a town in the Czech Republic. Inspired by Pantone's color of the year for 2022—Veri Peri—this item from their popular hobnail collection is a limited edition, but there are lots of other gorgeous options and shapes to choose from. Use it with some of their goblets or tumblers for drinks or fill it with your favorite blooms to create a striking centerpiece. This is not a jug you keep hidden away in the cupboard.
Something to think about …
If you’re looking for a new podcast, one I enjoy listening to every week is Noble Blood, hosted by Dana Schwartz. Each episode covers the life and death of an aristocrat or royal, full of plenty of scandal and surprising details, even about famous figures whose stories you may think you already know.
Last week on MIDDI …
