There's Something About Paris
Sharing three of my favorite French products after a weekend in the City of Lights.
They say Paris is the place to fall in love. For me, it’s not just the perfect place to fall in love with someone, but a place to fall in love with design. After all, there is nothing like Parisian style. The looks the locals create for themselves and their spaces are so unique, pushing boundaries without ever being overdone. I always leave Paris feeling inspired and ready to change things up with my style and my home. I also usually leave with a stash of goodies from the pharmacy and a butter/bread/wine hangover.
As I make my way back to London, I thought I would share some of my favorite French picks in this week’s edition. Each one epitomizes the Parisian aesthetic, sure to inject a bit of that effortless chic into your daily life.
Bisous!
1. Collosol Eau de Lait (£9.50 and up)
When you think of French beauty products, micellar water is probably one of the first items that comes to mind. While I like the original from Bioderma just fine, I enjoy using this milky version from Collosol even more. My first cleanse in the evening is typically a gentle cleansing milk, and this product is a lighter option that takes off all of my makeup and skincare products while leaving my skin soft and hydrated. Created more than 70 years ago, this iconic product has a fresh, powdery scent and I once read that Karl Lagerfeld added it to his bathwater.
2. Minelli Shoes and Accessories
On this recent trip, I couldn’t stop staring at all of the gorgeous flat sandals. I bought my first pair of Minelli sandals in Paris back in 2017 and wore them until they nearly fell apart. Beautiful to look at but still comfortable to wear, their eye-catching designs complement both casual and formal looks. Founded in 1973, this Parisian brand offers a range of shoes for men and women as well as small leather goods and handbags under €200. I just snapped up some sandals from their summer sale and now have my eye on this pair—check out their site now for some excellent deals!
The Blue Nudes series from Henri Matisse has certainly had its moment lately. But if you’re looking to add another bold print to your wall, I recommend going with another French artist: Yves Klein. I first fell in love with this print when we were living back in Metro Detroit and it’s traveled with us to New York and now London, adding a bright burst of color and movement to our living room. It’s part of his series Anthropometries, which was created by naked women covered in his signature International Klein Blue paint who used their bodies as paintbrushes.
