From pubs to parties, summer is the season for stepping out and being social. We’re back to checking out new spots around town and reaching for those special items in our closets we haven’t zipped up in a while. Whether you’ve missed big bashes or intimate gatherings, are ready to turn the sidewalk into a runway or have given your wardrobe a minimalist makeover, we’re all reexamining what dressing up and socializing means to us.
No matter what your social calendar looks like this summer, the three items featured this week will help you pull it all together with ease.
Grab a friend. It’s time to have some fun.
1. UN_DID In Your Face Water Tint (£19)
Many of us ditch heavy foundation in the summer. But the move towards lighter formulas that combine skin care with makeup is a larger trend spreading across the cosmetic industry. The key ingredients in this moisturizer/serum/foundation hybrid from UN_DID are aloe vera, chamomile, glycerin and hyaluronic acid to soothe and hydrate the skin. You definitely need to shake it first, but it absorbs quickly and isn’t greasy. The final look is matte, but not like you’re caked in powder. There are six vegan, cruelty-free shades to choose from packaged in eco-friendly, airless pumps.
2. MEEM Label Riley Wrap Dress (£120)
Going-out wear doesn’t have to be uncomfortable. MEEM is an independent British label I first saw on Wolf & Badger (I snagged this top). They call their designs “fluid” which is the perfect way to describe their effortless draping. This dress can easily be worn with strappy sandals for a summer wedding and saved to wear with boots in the fall. I like the drama of the balloon sleeves and ease of the belted waist, allowing you to adjust the fit. Unfortunately, the navy is out of stock right now, but the rust-colored jacquard option linked to above makes a lovely, bold statement.
3. Stackers Jewellery Storage (£13 and up)
A well-chosen accessory really makes an outfit—as long as you can find it. My bracelets and necklaces used to be scattered throughout our bedroom in boxes, trays and pouches. They would get tangled and I often forgot what I had to choose from. Then I found these customizable jewellery boxes from Stackers, a decade-old brand that is part of UK-based LC Designs. Keeping all of your baubles organized will help them last longer and encourage you to wear them more. For the classic size, layers and lids start at £13 in a variety of colors. There are also mini and supersize options.
