It’s not always easy to relax and let the tide take us along. I like to plan (and then over plan) everything, which can make it hard to adapt to sudden changes. But lately, I’ve been trying to live my life with less rigidity, because guess what? Time keeps on moving forward no matter what plans we make. Trying to fight it just takes more work.
This week’s three buys are all easygoing in design and function. Each one has a degree of fluidity, allowing them all to seamlessly blend in with their surroundings while at the same time elevating them.
Go with the flow. You never know where it might lead.
1. L’Oréal Professionnel Absolut Repair Oil (on sale for £26.06)
I adore a hair oil. I was recommended this one from L’Oréal Paris by my stylist when my hair was at its blondest. I would apply it before and after drying and over time, my hair became shinier, smoother and more manageable. When I decided to take a break from the bleach for a while in pursuit of “liquid” locks, I switched to using it just at night. I only wash my hair twice a week, so I like to comb a pump or two of this oil through my hair before heading to bed like a leave-in mask. It absorbs quickly (no damage to my pillowcases) and has led to less breakage and split ends.
2. Ghost London Mari Satin Midi Dress (£149)
One of my favorite buys from last year was the Palm dress from Ghost London, which was featured in “Make It Effortless.” I packed it in a separate bag as a backup option for a wedding and it quite literally saved the day when my main luggage was lost. Now that we’re in the early days of spring, I’m ready for some lighter dresses but not ready to bare all of my limbs yet. That’s what makes this latest design from Ghost so appealing. Crafted from Ecovero Satin, it has a slightly fitted silhouette to gently drape over the body. Plus, it’s machine washable.
3. Sagaform Nature Oil/Vinegar Bottles (on sale for £19.50)
My love for Scandi design shows no sign of letting up. Sagaform is a Swedish brand that was launched in 1996. Their mission has always been to create timeless, sustainable kitchen accessories and home goods that are as beautiful as they are practical. A dear friend gifted me these gorgeous oil and vinegar bottles for Christmas and I love the minimal, clean look they lend to any surface they’re displayed on. Each set of two mouth-blown glass bottles is topped with a round cork (available in oak or dark brown) and they can be used for beverages as well.
Something to think about …
We need stories written by people from all walks of life. And everyone deserves access to them to learn and grow. If you’re able, support the Brooklyn Public Library, which is offering digital library cards to teens throughout the US.
