MIDDI is all about making smarter shopping decisions. I’m always conscious of my budget when I shop—sometimes I keep things on the lower end of it and other times I spend a bit more. It’s all about finding the best quality buys within my price range.
So this week, I’m going to share three products/brands that I think are worth the splurge when your budget allows. Whether you pick them up at full price or wait for a promo code (I highly recommend the latter), you’ll be happy you did.
Set that budget. Do your research. Take the plunge.
1. Medik8 r-Retinoate Intense (£75 or £229)
Wanting to reduce the number of steps in my skincare routine, I found this night cream from Medik8, a British skincare line renowned for its retinol formulas. What makes it unique is the main ingredient, retinyl retinoate, which is eight times stronger than retinol. It also contains copper peptides, ceramides and more. I waited for a sale to scoop it up but would happily pay full price. This cream is rich without being too heavy and has drastically improved the texture and tone of my skin. It’s incredible. Best of all, it’s the only product I need to apply after cleansing to wake up glowing.
2. MOTHER Denim
I’ve shared before that denim is one area of my wardrobe I believe in spending money on. Finding a brand with the right composition and cut makes all the difference in how your jeans look and feel. So when I recently hit a personal health milestone, I decided to splurge on a pair of MOTHER’s Tomcat jeans which have a high rise and cropped straight leg. Inspired by 1970s California, this Los Angeles-born brand was founded by Lela Becker and Tim Kaeding in 2010. Their jeans start at around £200, but they’re so comfortable, well made and flattering, you won’t regret snagging a pair.
3. Dyson Cool™ Tower Fan (£349)
I haven’t lived in a home with central air conditioning in six years. Do I miss it? Sure. Do I feel like I need it? No. At least not here in the UK. I bought this fan from Dyson once we moved to London and when the first weeklong heatwave of the summer rolled in, I was super grateful I got it before they sold out. I was surprised by how powerful it was and how quickly it cooled large rooms. It’s also quiet, easy to clean and pretty enough to leave out. We now have one for our living room and one for our bedroom and they keep us very comfortable throughout the warmer months.
Something to think about …
Learning a new language can help with work, travel and even brain health. The app I splurged on this year is Babbel, which I’m using daily to improve my French. BTW, the title of this post means “No, I don’t regret anything.”
Last week on MIDDI …
