Today marks the official arrival of spring, and boy do we need it. This winter has been loooooong. But the trouble with spring is that it can be hard to tell if we’ve really left that winter chill behind for good. The days can alternate between sunny/warm and chilly/rainy for weeks until suddenly we find ourselves spit out into the full-blown swampy days of summer. And don’t get me started on hay fever.
It’s a beautiful time of year, but it’s best to be prepared for any seasonal switch-ups Mother Nature may have up her sleeve. The three products in this week’s edition can all help you navigate this transitional time of year comfortably and will round out your wellness routine nicely.
Happy Vernal Equinox, everybody!
1. Ultra Violette Daydream Screen SPF50 Tinted Veil (£38)
Sunscreen is a must all year long, and it’s worth doing the work to find one you’re able to stick with. With the warmer months approaching, I’m upping my sunscreen game this year by layering. For some extra coverage and protection, I’ve given this tinted serum formula from the Australian brand Ultra Violette a try. It has a non-greasy, oil-free formula, and while I noticed a bit of an “SPF” smell upon application (it’s fragrance-free), it faded quickly. I love how it settles into my skin to create a natural finish. You can see two of my other tinted favorites here and here.
2. Calvin Klein 4 Pack Crew Socks Gift Set (£27)
As a millennial, the resurgence of Y2K trends gives me hives. That’s why I’m focusing on ‘90s-inspired styles instead. And when you think of ‘90s fashion, you think of Calvin Klein. Keep the nostalgia going this spring with this set of crew socks from the iconic American designer featuring their signature logo that are perfect for those days when a little chill still hangs in the air. Wear them with sneakers and bike shorts a la Princess Diana or with platform loafers, a slip dress and a blazer for a night out. All you need is a spritz of CK One and your throwback OOTD is complete.
3. Eat Clean, Play Dirty Cookbook (£16.99)
As the temperatures rise, I start moving away from richer foods like stews and roasts in favor of lighter options packed with seasonal produce that let me leave the oven off. A while back, I tried a 10-day program from Sakara Life and fell in love with their creative plant-based recipes. Written by company founders Danielle DuBoise and Whitney Tingle, this cookbook is an excellent introduction to the Sakara Life way of eating—think colorful, flavorful meals and desserts that make your skin glow and your tummy happy.
Something to think about …
Today is also the International Day of Happiness, and the theme this year is “Be Mindful. Be Grateful. Be Kind.” It’s a great time to think of ways you can support your community and those you love. Let’s spread happiness.
